The New Approach to Events Traffic Management: What you need to know (Webinar)

Following the 2023 introduction of the NZ Guide to Temporary Traffic Management, a new events-specific practice note has been developed to assist everyone involved in events traffic management.

In this session, we’ll explore how the guide empowers you to:

  • Understand your event’s true road impact using a straightforward classification tool—so you can make more informed decisions about the level of Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) your event requires.

  • Apply standardised thresholds for when a Traffic Management Plan (TMP) is actually needed, ensuring consistent, efficient approval processes across councils and Road Controlling Authorities (RCAs).

  • Shift from a ‘compliance-first’ mindset to a collaborative, outcome-focused strategy, where event organisers, RCAs, TTM providers, and planners work together on what truly makes an event safe.

  • Optimise TTM solutions through theoretical examples and real success stories, showing how early engagement, shared understanding, and flexible planning can save costs, reduce disruptions, and enhance the experience for attendees and motorists alike.

Presented by Elise Freeman, Chief Operating Officer, Parallaxx
